KABALE, January 16th, 2024 | The Kabale police are currently probing the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of a court bailiff found lifeless on Monday, January 15, 2024, in Nyakambu Kekubo, Kabale Municiplaity. The Kigezi Police Spokesperson, Elly Matte, identified the deceased as Gideon Akankwasa, a resident of Kanoni Village in Maziba sub-county, Kabale district, who had been working as a court bailiff in Rukungiri district magisterial area.
Matte shared that the discovery unfolded when Hategeka Saverino, the wife of businessman Mwunva Mbonigaba, woke up around 5 am and found Akankwasa’s lifeless body near the garage of their house. The distraught wife immediately contacted her husband, who promptly reported the incident to Kabale Central police station, categorizing it as a case of sudden murder or death.
Allegedly, on the evening preceding the discovery, witnesses reported seeing the victim lying at the top of a cliff near Mwunva Mbonigaba’s residence. It is further alleged that Akankwasa fell from the cliff, resulting in his tragic demise.
By Monday evening, a postmortem examination had been conducted, and the body was handed over to the grieving relatives for a dignified burial. The Kabale police station officially registered the case as a sudden death.
The untimely passing of Gideon Akankwasa has left the community in shock, particularly those who knew him as a dedicated court bailiff. As investigations continue, the focus is on unraveling the circumstances leading to this tragic incident.
