Newly Appointed Registrars Begin Week-Long Induction in Uganda

MUKONO, Uganda – The Judicial Training Institute (JTI) in Uganda has initiated a week-long residential induction program for 46 recently appointed Registrars, Deputy Registrars, and Assistant Registrars. The program, which commenced on September 25th, 2023, is being held at the serene Colline Hotel in Mukono.

Inaugurating the induction, Chief Justice Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny-Dollo emphasized the significance of this training period for the newly appointed judicial officers. He encouraged them to utilize this retreat to deeply contemplate their roles and responsibilities, ensuring that they align with the expectations associated with their positions as Registrars.

The inauguration session was also attended by the Principal Judge Dr. Flavian Zeija. He implored the newly recruited judicial officers to be professional in their work and adhere to the code of conduct; “I call upon you to observe all the principles enshrined in the Judicial Code of Conduct, both in the performance of your judicial duties and in the management of your personal lives. With adherence to these principles, you will not go wrong,” stated Principal Judge Dr. Flavian Zeija during the induction.

The objective of this induction is to instill in these officers the core values and principles essential for their roles. They are expected to embody proficiency, integrity, and the character expected of a judicial officer. Principal Judge Dr. Flavian Zeija stressed the importance of taking this training seriously, emphasizing that it equips them with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively and efficiently administer justice in their respective areas of deployment.

As the week unfolds, it is expected that these judicial officers will absorb valuable insights and emerge from this induction better equipped to carry out their responsibilities and contribute to the administration of justice in Uganda. This investment in their training is a promising step toward ensuring a fair and transparent judicial system that benefits all citizens.
