The first prosecution witness has come forward in the ongoing legal proceedings surrounding the Agnes Nandutu Iron Sheets case, shedding light on alleged corruption involving state minister Agnes Nandutu. Hilda Evelyn Bazibu, a political assistant to the State Minister for Karamoja Affairs, revealed crucial details about how Nandutu obtained and stored 2,000 iron sheets.

Irrespective of the significant media coverage the case has garnered, Justice Jane Kajuga Okuo has issued an order prohibiting live coverage and publication of images related to the case. The decision comes after an application by the state attorney, David Bisamunyu, seeking media regulation to protect the two witnesses involved.

Agnes Nandutu, who also serves as the Woman Member of Parliament for Bududa district, faces accusations of involvement in the diversion of iron sheets meant for the vulnerable people of Karamoja sub-region. The charges against her include dealing with suspect government property.

The events in question allegedly took place in June 2022 at the office of the Prime Minister’s Stores in Namanve and Kkola cell Bulwanyi Parish, Mukono district. The prosecution argues that Nandutu knowingly received and held the 2,000 iron sheets, considered government property under the Anti-Corruption Act. They claim that she had reason to believe that these iron sheets were acquired through unlawful means, implicating her in the offense.
