KAMPALA, January 21, 2024 | Ahamya Sam, a 47-year-old lawyer and advocate residing in Buziga, Makindye Division, Kampala District, has been arrested for the alleged murder of a 37-year-old watchman at Kings Park Rugby Club in Kakajjo Zone, Bweyogere Division, Kira Municipality, Wakiso District.
The tragic incident unfolded on Saturday, January 20, 2024, when Ahamya Sam visited Kings Park Rugby Club for leisure with his children. According to the Kiira Division Police, Ahamya had a pistol in his possession, which he entrusted to a police officer guarding the entrance. However, events took a grim turn when Ahamya attempted to retrieve his weapon around 10:00 PM.
“At around 22:00 hours, Ahamya got out to retrieve his weapon. Upon retrieval, he attempted to perform Normal Safety Precautions (NSP) with the magazine still in the pistol. In the process, he shot and injured one, identified as Buruga Nekeon, who tragically succumbed to his injuries,” stated the police report.
A team of police officers, led by Divisional CID Officer D/SP Nuwamanya, swiftly visited the scene, including the SOCCO (Scene of Crime Officers) represented by D/C Masereka. The firearm was recovered and safely secured for forensic analysis.
The deceased, Buruga Nekeon, aged 37, served as a watchman at Kings Park Rugby Club. His body has been transferred to the City mortuary for a postmortem examination. Meanwhile, Ahamya Sam is in police custody at Kira Police Division as investigations into the matter continue.
