Law Development Centre Opens Applications for Bar Course 2023/2024

Kampala, Uganda.

The Law Development Centre (LDC) has opened its doors for aspiring legal professionals as it invites applications for the highly anticipated Bar Course in the 2023/2024 academic year. With campuses in Kampala, Lira, and Mbarara, LDC is offering a unique opportunity for individuals to embark on a transformative journey towards becoming qualified advocates.

The eligibility criteria have been outlined to ensure that candidates meet the necessary requirements. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in Law from a recognized university in Uganda with accreditation from the Law Council and the National Council for Higher Education. Additionally, citizens of Uganda with a law degree from a foreign country operating under the common law system may also apply, provided they obtain prior clearance from the Law Council.

The application process has been streamlined to facilitate ease and efficiency. Interested individuals are required to visit the LDC website, www.ldc.ac.ug, and access the online application portal. A non-refundable application fee of 200,000/- is payable to the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) account. Upon submission of the online form, applicants will be prompted to upload their academic documents and generate a Payment Reference Number (PRN) to complete the payment process. Only applications accompanied by evidence of payment will be processed.

As the deadline for applications approaches on Friday, 18th August 2023, prospective students are urged to seize this opportunity to pursue their legal aspirations. While applicants have the option to indicate their preferred campus during the application process, it should be noted that LDC reserves the right to assign admitted students to any of its campuses based on the Centre’s discretion. The announcement also includes important information for specific groups of applicants. Those who were admitted in the previous academic year, 2022/2023, need not reapply and will receive admission letters for the upcoming academic year. However, current undergraduate students who have not yet completed their LLB degree program are ineligible to apply unless they are cleared by their respective Law Schools and provided on the list of eligible students by their University Law Schools before 31st July 2023.
