KAMPALA, March 02, 2024 | The Kampala Metropolitan Police have detained Milly Naluwenda, a court clerk associated with the Buganda Traditional Court, as part of the investigation into the murder of Ndiga Clan head, Lwomwa Daniel Bbosa. The arrest, executed by the Crime Intelligence Unit, occurred in the Lungujja area, Lubaga Division, on Thursday.
Naluwenda, who is also a known businesswoman, was apprehended during a targeted operation. Patrick Onyango, the spokesperson for the Uganda Police Force, confirmed her detention, highlighting the police’s efforts to unravel the circumstances leading to Bbosa’s tragic demise. “The arrested individual is held to aid the ongoing investigation conducted by the Uganda Police Force,” Onyango stated.
The arrest was effected in Kirunda Zone of Lungujja, where operatives in casual attire forcibly took Naluwenda from her shop in Kitunzi zone, according to Paul Werikhe, Naluwenda’s son. The operation was marked by gunfire, reportedly to deter any interference.
The backdrop to this arrest is the brutal murder of Eng. Daniel Bbosa Lwomwa, a prominent businessman and the respected leader of the Ndiga Clan in the Buganda Kingdom, who was fatally shot by three assailants on a motorcycle. The incident, which also involved Bbosa’s wife and house helper, occurred near their home in Kikandwa zone, sparking a vigorous pursuit by local bodaboda riders.
In a daring act of community vigilance, the riders managed to incapacitate the assailants’ motorcycle, leading to the lynching of one suspect and the capture of another, Noah Lugya, who is currently under heavy security at Mulago Hospital. Lugya’s cooperation with the police has been key, providing crucial leads that have guided the investigation and resulted in several arrests linked to the case.
As the investigation proceeds, the police urge calm and patience, especially among Naluwenda’s family members and the broader community, as they work diligently to bring justice to the slain clan head.
