Amidst recent media speculations regarding the health of the Chief Justice, the Judiciary has come out to dispute the rumors. Through a press release issued on 22nd June 2023, Judiciary insists that contrary to sensationalized claims, the Chief Justice is not critically ill but is currently receiving medical attention abroad. The Judiciary aims to provide an accurate account of the Chief Justice’s health status and reassure the public about his imminent return to serving the people of Uganda.
The rumors surrounding the Chief Justice’s health escalated when he was unable to attend the special Supreme Court session honoring the late Hon. Lady Justice Stella Arach-Amoko at the High Court grounds in Kampala on 20th June 2023. However, the Judiciary firmly asserts that while the Chief Justice is indeed out of the country for medical reasons, his condition is not critical or alarming.
The Judiciary further reassures the public that the Chief Justice will soon return to resume his duties and continue to serve the people of Uganda diligently. It advises the general public to ignore the media’s sensationalized headlines that have caused unnecessary concern uproar.
