Family Petitions Judiciary over Justice Stella Arach Amoko’s burial place.

Kampala, Uganda.

The biological family of the late Hon. Lady Justice Stella Arach Amoko have made a heartfelt plea to the Judiciary seeking to overturn a decision regarding her final place of burial. The family urges the authorities to respect the wishes of their beloved sister and mother, requesting that she be laid to rest in Nebbi, alongside her father.

The family alleges that the late Lady Justice Stella Arach Amoko, known for her remarkable career and dedication to justice, had expressed her desire to be buried in Nebbi, near her father’s grave. This wish was conveyed on multiple occasions before her passing. That family allges that in the confines of Nakasero hospital, where she spent her last days, Lady Justice Amoko invited her biological brother, Picho Godfrey, and her sister, Christine Onyok, to discuss her final resting place. With unwavering clarity, she expressed her wish to be laid to rest in Nebbi, a decision reinforced during conversations with Nancy Okwong, a confidante at Nakasero hospital.

The family’s petition emphasizes the significance of this wish and the existence of their living biological mother, eagerly awaiting the opportunity to bid her beloved daughter a final farewell next to her father’s grave. The family asserts that Lady Justice Amoko’s desire to be buried in Nebbi should take precedence over any alternative arrangements. Additionally, the petition highlights the family’s lack of attachment to Adjumani, the proposed burial location. Lady Justice Amoko’s children express their unfamiliarity with Adjumani, noting that they have never been introduced to the area nor provided with any property or land that would facilitate paying respects to their mother in the future.
