Former Kawempe South Division MP Mubarak Munyagwa has been remanded to prison on charges of criminal trespass, malicious damage to property, and conspiracy to commit a felony. The alleged incident occurred between May 26 and June 3, 2023, in Mutungo cell, Wakiso District. Alongside four other individuals, Munyagwa appeared before Chief Magistrate Doreen Karungi at the Kajjansi Court, where they pleaded not guilty to the charges. The court ordered their remand until June 12 for further proceedings.

The accusations against Munyagwa and his co-accused involve the alleged conspiracy to commit a felony by trespassing on land registered as LRV 3839 Folio 20, Kyadondo Block 272 Plot 256, with the intent to annoy Dechomai Asset Trust Number Three LC.C. Furthermore, during their presence on the land, it is claimed that they willfully and unlawfully destroyed cassava crops valued at Shs5 million, which belonged to Janan Opio.

The arrest of Munyagwa and his co-accused was conducted by officials from the State House Anti Corruption Unit, with assistance from the police. The subsequent detention at Kajjansi Police Station marked the beginning of a legal battle that will now unfold within the courtroom.
