New York, USA |In a surprising turn of events, singer Casandra Ventura, known by her stage name Cassie, has reached a settlement with musician and entrepreneur Sean “Diddy” Combs, just one day after filing a federal lawsuit in New York. The lawsuit, in which Cassie accused Combs of rape and physical abuse during their on-and-off relationship from 2007 to 2018, has been resolved amicably, according to statements from both parties.
“I have decided to resolve this matter amicably on terms that I have some level of control. I want to thank my family, fans, and lawyers for their unwavering support,” Cassie said in a statement.
Combs also expressed his desire for an amicable resolution, stating, “We have decided to resolve this matter amicably. I wish Cassie and her family all the best. Love.”
However, Ben Brafman, Combs’ attorney, clarified in a second statement that settling the lawsuit does not imply an admission of wrongdoing. “Mr. Combs’ decision to settle the lawsuit does not in any way undermine his flat-out denial of the claims,” Brafman said. The terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
The complaint, filed on Thursday, portrayed Combs as a “vicious, cruel, and controlling man” who allegedly exerted complete control over Cassie’s personal and professional life. The lawsuit detailed instances of abuse, including physical violence and rape, allegedly inflicted by Combs.
“After years in silence and darkness, I am finally ready to tell my story, and to speak up on behalf of myself and for the benefit of other women who face violence and abuse in their relationships,” Cassie had stated on Thursday.
The suit also accused Combs of blowing up rapper Kid Cudi’s car in 2012 after discovering his romantic interest in Cassie. Brafman, on behalf of Combs, denied these allegations, claiming that Cassie attempted to blackmail Combs for $30 million.
In response, an attorney for Cassie countered that it was Combs who offered her “eight-figures to silence her and prevent the filing of this lawsuit.”
The story, marked by its twists and turns, leaves the public with questions unanswered, but for now, both parties seem content with putting this chapter behind them through an amicable settlement.
