KAMPALA, Uganda | The Kira Road Division of the Kampala Metropolitan East Police is currently conducting investigations into a deeply troubling case that involves allegations of rape and the procurement of abortion. This shocking incident was reported by a 19-year-old female resident of Kulambiro Jomayi in Nakawa Division, Kampala District.
According to the victim, the alleged incidents occurred between the months of July and September 2023. She had been employed as a housemaid by the suspect, Mr. Mohamed Mohsen, a 26-year-old Lebanese national and sales manager at Bipous Limited, who resides in Bukoto, Nakawa Division, Kampala District.
The victim has described a harrowing ordeal during her employment. She detailed that her employer, Mohamed Mohsen, summoned her into his room on multiple occasions where she was subjected to sexual assaults. She felt powerless to refuse his advances due to her vulnerable situation and her reliance on the job for her livelihood.
These disturbing acts continued until September, when the victim’s health began to deteriorate. At this point, the suspect took her to Victoria Hospital, where she was diagnosed as pregnant. Subsequently, it is alleged that the suspect procured an abortion for her, which had significant adverse effects on her health.
In response to the grave matter, the Kira Road Division swiftly initiated an investigation. The victim underwent a medical examination by a surgeon, confirming her condition and documenting physical injuries. Additionally, a statement from a witness who provided assistance to the victim after her escape from the suspect’s residence has been recorded. The suspect, Mohamed Mohsen, was immediately apprehended by the police.
The Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police ASP Luke Owyesigyire has emphasized that the Kampala Metropolitan Police is committed to conduct a thorough and fair investigation of this case.
