By Kerry Howard Mwesigwa.

A prominent lawyer in Kampala City, identified as Ronnie Mukisa, was fatally shot by unidentified assailants at his residence in Kitiko Birongo, Ndejje Division, Makindye Sebagabo, Wakiso District. The 45-year-old lawyer, who worked at IBC Advocates in Namanda Plaza, met his untimely demise on Tuesday night, according to authorities.

Eyewitnesses reported that an unknown individual opened fire at Mukisa before briefly retreating, only to return and shoot him multiple times in the head at close range. The assailant swiftly fled the scene on a motorcycle, leaving the community in shock and disbelief.

Initial investigations reveal that Mukisa had a tendency to return home late in the evening. On the fateful night, he arrived at the parking lot of his residential apartment complex at approximately 11:00 PM. After parking his dark blue Subaru Legacy, he proceeded to close the gate. It was during his walk back to his apartment that nearby residents were startled by the sound of gunshots, prompting them to investigate the source of the disturbance. Promptly responding to the incident, law enforcement officials from the Kajansi Police Station swiftly dispatched a team to the location. In an effort to aid the investigation, canine units were deployed, although their progress was impeded as the scent trail was lost along the way.

During the search of the area, investigators recovered four projectiles and cartridges, which will play a crucial role in further analysis and evidence gathering. Mukisa’s body has been retrieved and transported to the City Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

The Kajansi Police Station is actively conducting inquiries to gather additional information and establish the motive behind this heinous crime. Law enforcement officials assure the public that every effort is being made to apprehend the perpetrator(s) and bring them to justice.

This tragic incident adds to a disturbing trend of gun violence incidents in Uganda, with several high-profile individuals falling victim to fatal shootings during the month of May. The escalating frequency of these incidents raises concerns about public safety and highlights the urgent need for comprehensive measures to address the issue effectively.
