The Police in Luwero district arrested a businessman and a court bailiff accused of murdering of a teacher. A Mathematics teacher at Mulusa Academy Wobulenzi town and Luweero Seed Secondary school, Nathan Ssebugulu was found dead on the 25th of February 2023.
The police suspect that he was ambushed by anonymous attackers who first tied his hands with ropes and then strangled him. It is also alleged that the assailants were aiming to kill the deceased because they left his body lying next to his motorcycle. Since the murder, the police have been on the look for the murderers.
The prime suspects have been identified as Ibrah Ssendegeya a resident and businessman of Kasenene village and Javirah Nuwahereza, a court bailiff and resident of Ganda zone in Nansana municipality. This was after the Flying Squad unit through the analysis of phone call data records for the deceased indicated that the two suspects were in constant communication with the victim shortly before the murder.
According to the police investigations, it is suspected that Ssendegeya mortgaged his house to Nathan Ssebugulu as security and acquired a loan of three million and five hundred thousand shillings from the deceased. Also, the police detectives claim that Ssendegeya connived with Nuwahereza who is also a bailiff of a local bank branch to kill Ssebugulu to rescue the house which he was about to lose after the repayment period lapsed.
The District Police Commander, Living Twazagye noted that based on the evidence attained, the State Attorney has sanctioned murder charges against the suspects and that they will soon be indicted in court to answer the charges.
