KABERAMAIDO, January 11, 2024 | A court clerk from the Kabeiramaido Grade One Magistrate’s Court has been arrested by the local police for allegedly stealing exhibits. Alex Eluka, the suspect, was apprehended in his home village of Akaibebe in Dokoro district after being on the run since May 2023.
According to the District Police Commander (DPC) of Kabeiramaido, the arrest followed the breaking into the storage facility where exhibits were being kept. The DPC revealed that the incident occurred on a day when the officers on duty were absent, providing an opportunity for the alleged theft.
The stolen exhibits, considered crucial samples of evidence, have led to a halt in ongoing legal matters until the items are recovered. Among the items reported stolen are a motorcycle, smartphones, fuel containers, and other valuables. The District Police Commander expressed concern over the impact this incident could have on the administration of justice in the region.
“He has been on the run since May of 2023, and on the day when he allegedly committed the act, the officers on duty were absent,” stated the DPC. The arrest was finally made in the suspect’s home village, where he had been hiding.
The case against Alex Eluka has been officially registered under CRB 150/1, marking a crucial step toward addressing the alleged theft and restoring faith in the justice system. The community now awaits the resolution of this case, hoping for a thorough investigation and swift legal proceedings.
